Lyons review

The way in which the capital takes decisions and gets things done is a vital part of creating the environment in which it can continue to compete on the world stage.

We welcomed Sir Michael Lyons’ review of the services which local authorities provide and the way in which they are funded as both timely and critical.  London must have more of its own tax-raising powers in order to take decisions itself rather than endlessly return with a begging bowl to central government.  Business should play an increased role in deciding how the funding it provides is spent and be able to fund infrastructure projects which increase growth and productivity.
