Combatting crime

The management of crime is an essential component of a healthy world city

London First encourages stronger partnerships between business and the police at both strategic and local, operational levels.  We believe the best solutions will come out of a strong understanding of each others’ business.  The more contact there is, the better the ideas and the safer the capital will be for businesses, their staff and London’s communities.

Police/ Business Advisory Group
We established this group to improve the strategic dialogue and understanding between senior police and business leaders in London.  The group, chaired by BT’s Clive Ansell, meets regularly with the Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service and Commissioner of the City of London Police.

Business priorities for London’s policing
Increased efforts are needed to combat crime against business which can damage UK productivity, London First urges.  Following our recent member consultation, we produced a report identifying priorities and making practical suggestions to help London’s police provide a more tailored response to the needs of businesses.  Our findings were presented to Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair in March 2007 and will inform the Met’s modernisation programme. We will launch a joint London First/Met action plan later in the year.
