Tube

The Tube is vital to London’s economy.  It transports over 3 million commuters and visitors a day and in 2006 carried 1 billion travellers for the first time in its history.

London First has campaigned for continued, sustained investment in the Tube system that is essential to enable business in London to function efficiently and grow.

Since the introduction of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) in 2003, we have worked with London Underground and the infrastructure companies to improve operational performance and ensure the sensitive planning of engineering works.

Following the collapse of Metronet, it is vital that the alternatives to Metronet's contracts secure the improvements needed to deliver the 30% extra peak capacity originally promised by the PPP.
